What a Weekend

Lets start with last Thursday....Lynn (she keeps Riley Rose) calls me around 2:00p.m. to tell me Riley Rose has just vomited everywhere after her nap. There had been a virus going around her daycare (only 6 children in the daycare) with the last child having the virus last Sunday- I thought we were in the clear. So, I go pick her up from daycare and we go home. She seems to be okay for the rest of the day. I go ahead and tell my coworkers that I am just going to take Friday off. I have been needing a day off for quite sometime (I say that, but I pretty much have one of the easiest jobs in Pike County and we go and come as we want). So Riley Rose and I take Friday off together. She is still okay...no signs of any virus. We bought groceries, went to visit with my friend Sheena, cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, and played, played, played! Well....Saturday morning at 5:00a.m., Kaylee comes in our room and says "Mommy, my tummy hurts". I thought to myself Uh, Oh, this probably isn't good. I told her to go back to her room and lay down, but to yell for me if she kept feeling bad. She didn't even make it to her room good before she was throwing up. Yuck! So all day Saturday, Kaylee was on the couch sick. We had so many other plans for Saturday, but that's just the way it goes sometimes. Kaylee did miss her friend, Mary Michael's birthday party and she was so upset. I had to speak at a Alabama Childcare Provider's Meeting Saturday morning (in the horrible weather) so Randy stayed with Kaylee. Saturday afternoon my mom and I went to Elba to Kid's Unlimited to shop for the girls some new clothes. When we got home (about 5:00) Kaylee was feeling a little better. We loaded up and went to Lowes. Randy and I have been wanting to replace the carpet in our hallway with wood for quite sometime. We have wood in our kitchen, so we were just going to match it up. We go to Lowes with a sample of the wood from our kitchen, however it was the end piece that transitions to the carpet, but we thought It'll do. We match it up, and buy 5 boxes of wood flooring.
Sunday morning we wake up and there is snow outside! Randy woke me up at 5:30a.m. "Tara, get up and come look at this!". I don't care much for snow but he was beside himself. Finally, after he was up and down, looking out the window for what seemed like an hour while I was trying to sleep, I said "Just open the blinds and lay here and watch it". Once the girls woke up, he had someone to celebrate his excitement with. They all 3 loved it! I can say, it was neat to see it snowing as hard as it was, but once in a blue moon is enough for me.
Back to the flooring. So up into the morning we start pulling baseboards, carpet, and the padding. Might I add, don't ever try anything like this with 2 small children! Riley Rose was the worst one. She thought that she had to do everything just like her daddy. She was into everything! No matter what Randy did, she tried to do it too. She was on her knees on the floor the entire time just like him. After everything was up I swept all the dust off of the concrete and the wood flooring is ready to go down. Randy pulls a piece from the box, lays it on the kitchen floor and it is a shade lighter. Ugh!! To make it worse, the kind we need is discontinued!! Now what do we do. The carpet that we pulled is in a million pieces!! Well, it all worked out.....We have ceramic tile in both of our bathrooms and in our foyer. Lowes had it in stock and it saved us $150.00!!! So now we will have a ceramic hallway but anything is better than that ugly carpet! While we were at Lowes exchanging the wood for ceramic, I started feeling yucky. The virus had now made it to me! All night last night I was sick! The joys of spreading viruses when you have babies! Randy stayed home later this morning to help me with the girls and he took them to school/daycare. Today has been better, but Randy has not had his turn yet. In the past, he has always been the 2nd one to get any type of sickness as it spreads around our house, so maybe he is in the clear.
Maybe now we can all have a good, healthy week
