Drama I Don't Need Right Now
Last night my friend, Sheena and her daughter, Tyler came over to visit for awhile. All the kids played while Sheena and I chatted and played 'catch up'. Randy was outside changing the Air Filters in both of our vehicles, so he was in and out most of the night. About 8:00pm Sheena and Tyler left. Randy was inside by this point. I immediately put the girls in the bathtub (their bedtime is 8:00). Randy was getting Riley Rose's bottle ready so she could be put to bed after her bath. Sheena had literally been gone for 2-3 minutes when our doorbell rang. I thought it was her and maybe she had left Tyler's pacifier. It wasn't. All I heard is Randy say "OMG!!!!" I snatched the girls out of the tub and left them standing there to go see what had happened. Our neighbor from across the street had ran over because a tree had just fallen on both of our vehicles! By the time I made it to the front door, several of our neighbors were in our yard standing in amazement. We never heard a thing! I guess since we were in the back part of the house, and those neighbors had to be outside when it fell. Randy, along with the guy neighbors used a chainsaw to remove the tree from our vehicles so we could see the damage. It is not good. Damage to my car included: a destroyed side mirror, a broken antenna, a caved in windshield, dents to the top of the car, back windshield destroyed, destroyed back bumper, the whole back hatch door will have to be replaced, the hood is destroyed, and the majority of the side panels are destroyed. Damage to Randy's truck included: a destroyed bug shield, a destroyed hood, destroyed front bumper, and the tree trunk hit is hood so hard that it busted the container under the hood that holds transmission fluid. Needless to say, both of our vehicles had to be towed from our house today, so we are car less for who knows how long??? Keep in mind, we leave for Orlando tonight. The cruise ship leaves tomorrow. We have arranged to rent a car for the trip down, but they are so expensive that we are turning it in Monday when we get back home (we didn't have Rental Car coverage on our insurance). We are not very upset about this at all. As I said earlier, Randy was out changing the Air Filters just minutes before the tree fell, so we are SOOOO thankful that he wasn't still out there. Also, the girls were playing out there yesterday afternoon, so I am even more thankful that the tree decided to wait to fall. Those thoughts make the actual situation that we are dealing with 100 times better. Yes, we will both be without a vehicle for who knows how long. However, This too shall pass
praise the Lord that randy was back inside at that point. what a BLESSING. i am so sorry though - that is very frustrating to have to deal with!
