'This Is It'

Yesterday we celebrated K4's End-of-the-Year party at the pool. The kids had so much fun! It was sort of a sad day for me....knowing that 'this is it' until Kindergarten. I have not requested any certain teacher for Kaylee's kindergarten year. There are only 2 teachers, and we have heard good things about both. It is just sort of sad that Kaylee has been with the same 10 kids all year and next year that all will change- of course they will mix them all up. Needless to say her K4 teacher, Miss Marilee has been AMAZING!! Anyway, after the party I had all intentions of going back to work, but my best friend Anah was in town, so she and I, along with Kaylee spent the day together. At 2:00 (Riley Rose's wake-up time from nap) we went out and picked her up from Ms. Lynn's. She joined us for some shopping an Mexican- our favorite!
Today we made a long list of items that we needed from Lowe's. I never like going to Lowe's because we can never get out of there without spending an arm and a leg.....So this was our story today. This could be because I put it off so long until my list is so long we do spend a fortune. We needed grass- From the time we bought our house, we have been struggling with our grass to get it to grow (The previous owners just lived here, and that was the extent of it!). We needed a ceiling fan for RR's room- we shut her door each night b/c she has to have complete darkness and I think she needs more air circulation that just what her humidifier provides. We bought her a ceiling fan and one for our Living Room (wasn't on our list, but it was on Clearance, $100 off!!!!). And finally curtains for our room- we have a huge Bay Window in our bedroom (with no curtains) and with the HOT weather on its way, we can already tell that our bedroom is at least 10 degrees hotter during the day.
After we got home and we got all the grass seed planted, the biggest FLOOD came! I'm sure there will be plenty of pretty grass growing in our ditch line behind the house soon! Oh well, shoulda watched the weather.
Some more thoughts that we need suggestions on:
1. Randy and I are thinking about getting a 'Sleep Number' bed. Anybody have one? Are they worth the money? Is there another type of mattress that we may love?
2. We are also looking to buy Kaylee a new bed. At 1st we thought we would buy bunk beds. Like the ones at Pottery Barn Kids that have the twin on top and full on bottom. We eventually want the girls to share a room even if it only last a few years. Now our thoughts are to just buy a twin size bed with the trundle under that pulls out. The bunk bed thing scares me, plus if it doesn't work out with them sharing a room, we wouldn't have invested a bunch of money and space. Kaylee could just use the trundle when she starts having spend the night company......Anyone have any suggestions/stories of siblings sharing rooms? Keep in mind I was an only child until I was 19.
Thanks!

  1. (1) I wish I had been with you guys eating Mexican.
    (2) So funny about the grass.
    (3) I have a Sleep Number. I like it. It's really good if you and Randy like different types of firmness. They are expensive though, but isn't any good mattress expensive..
    (4) My opinion is to not get a bunk bed. I've always been afraid the top bunk would collapse. But, also, if you got the twin size bed with the trundle it would (a) make the room look bigger (b) wouldn't be a huge waste of money if they didn't like sleeping in the same room (c) would be good for sleepovers (d) they could pretend the trundle was a "couch."

  2. Adam- Thanks for the suggestions. I am researching online discounts, etc. on Sleep Numbers. Also, I think I am set on the twin with trundle. I just didn't want it to seem like I was giving RR the shaft by making her sleep on a 'pull-out' bed, but it will have the same mattress as Kaylee's bed plus if she rolls off, she won't have far to fall.
    Thanks again :)
