With the 4th of July always being big around our house (it's Kaylee's birthday too), we had a jam-packed weekend! My step-son, Justin came down and spent Thursday-Sunday with us, and we had tons of fun!
On a side note- I know some of you are probably wondering I know Tara has said that she has 3 step-children but she hasn't told us much about them. Well, let me tell you about them: Kathy (21 years old) lives in Fort Stewart, GA with her husband, Stephen. They were high school sweethearts and decided to get married 1 year after high school graduation (2006). Stephen is full-time Army and they live on Base in Ft. Stewart, GA. We usually only get to see them on holidays, because Kathy works full-time too so their schedules only usually don't allow much time for travel. We do talk all the time though. Michael (20 years old) is a student here at Troy University. He lived with us until he graduated from CHHS (2008) and now he lives on his own with roommates. Justin (16 years old) lives with his mom in Auburn, AL. He comes to visit Randy and I every few months (not enough, but at his age he doesn't want to spend his weekends with his parents...blah, blah- don't you all remember those days?). The good thing is, when he comes, he stays for a pretty good while. You may also be thinking My goodness, Tara has 3 step children that are almost her age! Well, not quite, but close enough. Randy is 15 years older than me, but it has always worked out perfect and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my step children and we have a great relationship! They have always been very close to their dad. When Randy and I 1st got married, they actually all lived with us. Yes, all 3 of them plus Kaylee! It was a lot to get used to going from just me and Kaylee to 3 more children all over the age of 12 (at that time)! It was interesting....but fun!
Back to the 4th of July weekend. Friday we all packed up and went to Dothan to spend the day at Water World. It took some 'talking into' to get Michael to go. He thinks since he is older now that he can't have fun at places like that. It ended up being a lot of fun! I'm glad we chose Friday to go because the crowd was so thin. No long lines at all! Saturday we spent the day at my parent's house cooking out and playing outside, and Saturday night off to Troy University for the Annual Fireworks show at the Football Stadium (the girls loved it). Yesterday we spent the day at home so the girls could play with all of Kaylee's new birthday gifts. We grilled out last night and got in the pool for a bit yesterday afternoon. Overall it was a great weekend and it was so good to get to see Justin for a few days!
